Re: Logistics of the OS
Isn't Pudding Mill Station physically closer to the (south side of) the stadium?

I've only been passed a couple of times but that's the impression I got...that and the station itself seems to have unfeasibly larger platforms than needed to service staff working in the surrounding scrapyards.

Re: Logistics of the OS
The Mountfitchet Road route is by far the easiest and quickest.

Unless you come via the SECRET station.

Cheers mate, I've not seen that map before, very handy

Re: Logistics of the OS
Just noticed it says that Pudding Mill Station will not be available on match days until Jan 2017, which is also really useful, I'd not seen that mentioned anywhere else

Re: Logistics of the OS
That map is not quite accurate at present. The route via Stratford Walk is closed off for building work, you have to go further north up Westfield Avenue to get in that way.

All adding to the distance from Stratford Station.

Re: Logistics of the OS
for what it's worth I did the the Ride London race on Sunday ( which started next to the stadium ) and I found it fairly easy to get around. Parked round the back of Carpenters, and then rode round to where we had to assemble. Signs everywhere for the race obviously, but lots of other signage and landmarks..

Re: Logistics of the OS
Has anyone ever walked from the OS to Plaistow station before? This is the route I am thinking of taking after midweek games. According to Google its a 35 minute walk which seems excessive! Was also considering Bow Road as well...

Re: Logistics of the OS
I'd say 35 minutes is quite a conservative estimate.

I've walked from Plaistow to Stratford Broadway, 30 minutes is about right

Planning on getting the Overground from Stratford but Thursday will be a good indicator of whether that will be carnage. Shame it's the end of the line so there's no cheat of walking a stop further away to get on the train before it gets busy, ala East Ham. Plan B is Stratford Maryland into Liverpool St then walk down to Aldgate East which is probably what I'll do of after a drink afterwards. Buses to Leyton are quite good too but I have a feeling they may be like the buses around Upton Park on matchdays and will all be cancelled or redirected.

Anyone else going by motorbike Thursday? Looking for somewhere to park? Gotta be somewhere near the ground surely?

Re: Logistics of the OS
If you're thinking of walking to Plaistow from the OS you're probably just as well off walking to Bow Road, Leyton, or even Forest Gate. That long walk down West Ham Lane will be a ball-ache and a half.

Someone earlier posted about the Euston to Hackney Wick route via Victoria line to Highbury and Islington. Tfl has that at 20 mins. I'm all over that. Closer to the OS by a bit too

That's how I used to get in to Upton Park when I lived in North London - nice and easy but keep an eye out on the engineering works on weekends. At that time they were shutting it all the time.

Re: Logistics of the OS
The main issue with that option will be competing with the shoppers etc. The tunnels, staircases and platforms at Stratford aren't exactly spacious.

Thanks for the replies, back to the drawing board for me. Just want to avoid Stratford at all costs as I see it being a nightmare after mid-week games. Weekend games don't bother me as will go for a few beers but the mid-weekers will be carnage!
